The Things You Said
sometimes it’s all we’ve got to find the strength to breathe
sometimes when we’re alone, it makes us want to
reach out for a life boat in this flooding tide
to get up and get out and let it all unload
maybe it’s the things you said when darkness filled our days
the toughest times eventually fade away
maybe it’s the way you called my name when I went down
and you helped me up so we could find another way
sometimes the shadows find a way into our hearts
sometimes the mountain roads are tough and laid
with black ice, skidding tires, heading for a rocky fall
we grab for the guard rail to stay upon the road
